Banana bread is one of my favorite treats. It’s just cakey enough to make my body think I’m giving it a real dessert, but it’s ever so slightly healthier for you. It’s high in fiber and a classic baked good in any American kitchen. In the past, we’ve had banana pumpkin bread, which had a much wetter texture than your typical bread. Not this recipe! A flavorful spin on the standard, I hope you enjoy it!

2 cups Flour
1 tsp Baking soda
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Ground clove
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
1/2 cup Butter, softened
3/4 cup Brown sugar
2 eggs
4 medium Bananas, ripened and mashed
1/4 cup Spiced Rum (or substitute one more banana)
1/2 cup Walnuts, chopped
1/2 cup Dark chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line a loaf pan with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients except walnuts and chocolate. Once the batter is mixed, fold in the nuts and the chocolate. Pour the batter into the pan and tap the bottom against the counter to let out any bubbles and spread the batter evenly. Bake for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out dry. Let the bread cool for at least five minutes before slicing.
