Mulled Wine

I realize it’s the middle of January, but it’ll eventually be time for the holidays again, and even now, on January 20th, 2021, it’s a bit of a holiday in and of itself. Instead of being picky about the exact time of year, let’s all agree that there’s never really a bad time to enjoy mulled wine. It smells great, it’s lovely to look at, and it’s absolutely, positively delicious.

Ingredients
4 cups Apple cider (NOT apple juice)
750 ml Red wine (I recommend Ménage à Trois or any jammy red)
1/4 cup Honey
4 Cinnamon sticks
1 large Orange, peeled and juiced
10 whole Cloves
6 Star anise

Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Bring to a boil before reducing to a simmer and letting everything sit over low heat for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Ladle into mugs and enjoy hot!
If you want to avoid having to fish cloves out of your drink, put them in a tea ball.
