Snickerdoodles are one of hubby’s favorite cookies. I’ve made him a snickerdoodle mug cake and a few trial batches of cookies, but nothing has ever really wowed him before. This time, I tried a few different things. First off, bigger cookies will come out softer, smaller ones will come out crunchier. Second, longer bake times will also equal crunchier cookies. Third, if you want a chewy cookie, chill the batter for 30-60 minutes so the butter has a chance to chill, meaning it will melt less in the oven. Tweak the recipe as you see fit and enjoy!

Ingredients
1/2 cup Butter, softened
1/2 cup Butter-flavored shortening
1 1/2 cups Sugar
2 Eggs
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
1/2 tsp Almond extract
2 3/4 cups Flour
2 tsp Cream of tartar
1 tsp Baking soda

1 tbsp Sugar
1 tbsp Cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line two baking sheets.

In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, shortening, sugar, eggs, and extracts. Sift in the flour, cream of tartar, and baking soda and mix until just combined. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and coat in the cinnamon-sugar before placing on a baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes and cool on a wire rack.
