Twelve Spice Tango Seasoning

I decided to try my hand at making up a steak rub, more out of curiosity than anything. Despite not really knowing what I was doing, it turned out really well. I’ve already shared some with a friend, and I can confirm that it’s as amazing on steak as it is in a scramble. The measurements are approximate. If you’re making a large batch to keep a container on hand, I suggest making it in small parts so you can tweak some of the ingredients to your liking (the salt content, for example) as you go. Use whole spices for this recipe where you can. It’ll make a world of difference!

Ingredients
1 tsp Black peppercorns
1/2 tsp Sage
1/4 tsp Rosemary
1/8 tsp Fennel
1/4 tsp Red pepper flakes
1/8 tsp Oregano
1/8 tsp Smoked paprika
1/4 tsp Garlic powder
1/8 tsp Celery salt
1/3 tsp Onion flakes
1/3 tsp Table salt
1/2 tsp Coarse salt

Place everything but the salt in a mortar and pestle and grind the spices down until the peppercorns are broken and the mixture is coarse but uniform. Add in the salts, stir, taste, and adjust the flavor as you see fit. Use liberally to crust steaks!
